Who We Are
Mvuvi Group Holdings is a Southern African aquaculture group focused on one core mission: delivering affordable, sustainable protein at scale. We operate across Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi through integrated networks of market vendors, small-scale farmers and strategic partnerships.
Our Why
Africa is short of protein.
Since some 20% of Africans get their protein intake primarily from fish, fish are crucial to solving this shortfall. The FAO reports that local capture fisheries, however, are in decline, and the supply crisis is compounded by Africa's rising population, which is expected to double by 2050. Africa needs an additional 3 million tons of fish to meet the protein needs of its growing population.
This demand increase cannot be supplied by wild capture fisheries.
But the gap is larger than a supply shortage.
We are building a regional carbon-conscious food system, anchored by our farms, to become an engine of protein independence. 2050.

Mvuvi’s decades long journey:

1997
Lake Harvest Group Founded
The journey began with the establishment of Lake Harvest Aquaculture on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. This was one of Africa’s pioneering commercial tilapia operations and one of the first to achieve HACCP certification

Mid 2000s
Regional Market Expansion into Zambia
Lake Harvest began exporting tilapia into Lusaka, Zambia which grew into the most developed tilapia market in the region. This established tilapia as a viable regional protein source.

2015
Chicoa Fish Farm Founded
Chicoa Fish Farm was established in Mozambique on Lake Cahora Bassa, Tete, Mozambique.

2024
Strategic Merger
Chicoa Fish Farm and Lake Harvest Group joined forces under the Mvuvi banneri, combining Chicoa’s innovation and resilience with Lake Harvest's decades of aquaculture farming experience, advanced processing infrastructure, and established distribution networks.

What we do: We operate fully integrated tilapia farms and value-chain infrastructure across Southern Africa. We drive food security and a more sustainable food system in the SADC region by providing healthy, affordable protein source while working in harmony with the environment and people.
